Water scarcity in the Himalayan foothills of Uttarakhand, India. These images were collected during fieldwork for my Fulbright-Nehru fellowship on NGO interventions to assist communities in coping with the chronic effects of drought and dwindling spring discharge, exacerbated by changing patterns of precipitation. Here, I attempt to illustrate the closely-linked, but precarious relationship between rural communities of the Himalayan foothills and their water sources.

Chronic flooding along Nepal’s Karnali River. The photos below, taken during fieldwork for my Master’s thesis in 2015 and 2016, document the impacts of inundation in the Kanali River Basin and the creative ways people have adapted to living with the constant threat of floods.
